Kensington Investigation - Preliminary

Site Details
Single-story, single-family dwelling, built in 1926 with a detached garage. Current owner has lived in the house since 1992. The homeowner had contacted a psychic who had come to the house and reported that the ghost was of a man by the name of John, who had met a violent death on the property, in the 1800's. This information has not been confirmed or denied. The homeowner has reported the following:

• Creaking boards that sound like someone is walking across the floor.
• Strange smells of body odor and defecation.
• Items turn up missing and suddenly are returned within a few days.
• Electrical appliances turning on and off, such as lamps, lights, or fans.
• The feeling of being watched by someone.
• Brief peripheral glimpses of shapes moving about.
• Strange bruises that appear on the skin.
• Physical sensation of being touched by an invisible hand.
• A dog and Cockatoos that react strangely to an unseen presence.

Investigation
We met with the homeowner and started with the interview. She had stated that since January she has noticed an increased amount of unexplained circumstances. These are noted above. The activity seems to be centered around her cockatoos and that the birds are so stressed by the activity that they are pulling out their feathers.

The homeowner had contacted the local TV news and they were present during this preliminary investigation. We started with a tour of the property by the homeowner where she pointed out the hot spots of repeated activity. After our tour, we began with an EMF sweep to measure the background energy levels and recorded all readings. During our background sweep, several areas recorded EMF readings that were in the 7 to 12 milligauss range. All of the rooms were in the .01 to .02 range except for theses areas.

After our baseline sweep, we conducted a more thorough sweep and went to the areas where we had the high readings. These areas were now reading normal, .01 to .02. The news reporter that was following me, noticed the changed reading and asked what it meant. I stated to him that it meant that there was energy detected where now there is none. I told him that it ruled out any interference from an outside source (like an electrical appliance) since it didn't repeat. This area was in the master bedroom and the bird's cages were a few feet away.

We completed the initial investigation by shooting photos of the entire house and property and I set-up the owners video camera in the bedroom so that we could record what was happening to the birds when they were alone.

Results
The photos taken showed no anomalous energy, however, the homeowner called me the evening of the investigation and said that she had setup her video camera in the garage and recorded what she said sounded like a man’s voice after the camera seemed to be bumped into.

I drove down on the following Saturday and when I heard the EVP, I was astounded that it was so loud. This is not some voice bearly audible above the background noise, but a VERY clear man’s voice. This amplitude can only be achieved by speaking directly into the microphone.

So, I propose that if this alleged ghost did bump the camera, he would be very close to the microphone.
